Conexiam Methodology: Navigate
Best practice enterprise architecture ensures that the central questions the business needs answered are in focus. To achieve tight focus, you must ruthlessly minimize the information gathered, analyzed, stored and maintained. Every component that used in a models in an EA repository must be maintained, as well as every relationship and property. The number of interim architecture states and options analyzed multiplies the information maintenance burden.
Conexiam Navigate is designed to address this problem. Conexiam’s Navigate is an extensible enterprise architecture meta-model and standardized set of templates and deliverables. Core Navigate contains the absolute minimum information. Specialized purposes, like project and portfolio management (PPM), road mapping, governance, risk and compliance (GRC), business process improvement, service architecture, information architecture, and integration architecture are provided as fully integrated extensions to the core.
The repository is only the start. Information gathering and analysis are supported by presentation stock, information gathering templates and usage Guides. The Guides are aimed at the architect providing method and guidance on gathering, analyzing and reporting on the architecture.
Central purposes of enterprise architecture
Typically, there are four broad purposes of an EA Capability:
-
EA to support Strategy: provide an end-to-end target architecture, and develop roadmaps of change over longer time periods. In this context, architecture is used to identify change initiatives and supporting portfolio and programs.
-
EA to support Portfolio: Deliver EA to support cross-functional, multi-phase, and multi-project change initiatives. In this context, architecture is used to identify projects, set their terms of reference, align their approaches, identify synergies, and govern their execution.
-
EA to support Project: Deliver EA to support the Enterprise’s project delivery method to assure compliance with architectural governance, and to support the integration and alignment between projects.
-
EA to support Solution Deployment: Deliver EA that is used to support solution deployment by defining how the change will be designed and delivered, and finally, act as a governance framework for change.

Conexiam Navigate is designed to address the problem of getting to done.
Core Navigate contains the absolute minimum information. Specialized purposes, like project and portfolio management (PPM), road mapping, governance, risk and compliance (GRC), business process improvement, service architecture, information architecture, and integration architecture are provided as fully integrated extensions to the core through a Navigate Atlas.
This method leads to smaller information demands and crisp focus on expected value. We gracefully address new critical questions. The exercise is not to gather all the information that might be useful in some potential future.
Conexiam’s Navigate is a flexible enterprise architecture meta-model and standardized set of templates and deliverables. Specialized Atlases extended Navigate seamlessly.
